We continue to have a great year.  Students have been working very hard in the classroom.  I have been extremely impressed by the students’ desires to accomplish their reading goals for the month. 

          Please look below for what we are currently learning  in our 3rd grade classroom:

< xml="true" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" prefix="st1" namespace="">Reading:    Students will revisit author’s purpose as well as numerous other reading skills.  Please make sure your child is reading each night if reading is the homework assignment (It usually is.).  Check your child’s reading log to make sure he/she is recording the books that he/she reads at home and in school.  < xml="true" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" prefix="o" namespace="">

Writing:    We are continuing to write daily across the curriculum using a variety of tools and formats including descriptive, narrative, informative, friendly, persuasive, fable, poetic, and summary forms.  We are currently working on constructing 3-5 paragraph papers explaining the life cycle of a frog.

Math:        Our class just began our next unit on multiplication and division.  Knowing all math facts is essential to doing well in this unit.  We have already starting doing multiplication and division fact extensions.  It is essential that students have the basic facts memorized.

Social Studies:   We are now working on our economics unit.  Please make sure students know all key vocabulary and flashcards sent home throughout this unit.  Vocabulary is very important in this unit.  After we finish Economics, we will begin our unit, We, The People.

Science:    We have just started Unit 6.  We will take our 3^rd Quarter Assessment in a couple of weeks.  Unit 7 is our Natural Resource and Conservation unit.  As always with science, please make sure your child understands the concepts involved in Unit 7 as well as the vocabulary.
